Fresh Community Wellness SCIO

Salutogenic approach to health & community wellness

Seaton Trails, Builds & Walks

Expanding on our TRAILS project at the Fresh Hub

We started walk & talks sessions, along with walk, talk & tidy sessions 2 years ago. This then grew steadily into the community gardening, growing and working with many members of the community.

Identified was a lack of ‘sit & stop’ hubs, essentially benches along the routes where people could rest & relax. We call these blether benches – encouraging the community to chat!

Building them from donated pallets, items we have found fly-tipped around the neighbourhoods, these have quickly grown. Other donations from companies such as Donald’s of Peterhead have allowed us to create large planters along the trails too.

This includes creating builds for the Bon Accord Care supported living blocks, from planters/ tyres/ garden areas. Which we will continue to build upon.

The majority of this work has been completed by volunteers with Lived Experience, be that mental health, alcohol, drugs – members of the community who wish to give back and help others. Incredible work so far. You can read more on the Seaton Trails page.

We will be continuing with environmental tidy ups & continuing to help with climate change, by upcycling more items into our builds. We hope to start some work with other groups & services, as well as working with NESCAN.
